Camp FAQ
Summer Riding CampWhat should campers wear to camp?
Long pants, a shoe or boot with a small heel, and upper body clothes to suit the temperature. We have a number of helmets for those who wish to give riding a try, but advise that riders purchase their own once they start lessons to ensure a proper and safe fit.
How old does my child have to be to come to camp?
5 or 6 is the youngest we recommend for summer camp, though your child’s level of desire to be here heavily impacts how they will enjoy their week. A 5 year old who is crazy about horses and wants to be here can be a better fit for camp than a 12 year old who doesn’t want to be here. Children attending camp must be willing and able to follow camp staff direction and be able to use lavatory facilities and change in and out of their bathing suit/riding clothes on their own. Maximum recommended age is 16.
What type/style of riding do you teach?
Hunter/Jumper and Equitation
What to bring to camp?
A picnic lunch, refillable water bottle, sunscreen, footwear with a heel appropriate for riding, extra clothing, hat, swim suit and towel, apples and carrots for your pony and helmet, riding pants and half chaps if you have them!
How big are your camp groups?
Campers are split into lesson groups of no more than 6 riders (depending on overall numbers that week). Maximum total campers per week is 25.
Can boys attend riding camp?
Yes, all of our camp weeks are Co-ed.
Can I sign my child up for multiple weeks of camp?
Yes! We have kids that come for 1 or 2 weeks or for all 6!
Do I need to buy special riding clothes/boots?
You may borrow one of our helmets but most people prefer wearing their own. Paddock boots (ankle high) with chaps or breeches and tall boots are suggested.
What are camp hours?
The camp day starts at 9:00am and runs until 4:00pm
Can I drop my child off early or pick them up late?
Half an hour early/late pick up and drop off can be arranged, but must be planned with camp administrators ahead of time.
Does the pool have a certified lifeguard?
Due to the size and shallow depth of our pool we are not required to have a fully qualified lifeguard on duty. However, we do have a fully certified lifeguard on our camp staff and all of our CITs and Councillors are required to have up to date first aid and CPR training. The pool is always supervised by a first aid and CPR trained adult or a certified lifeguard.
